CabTab Lite

CabTab Lite is a suitable application for a notebook computer to acquire the meter’s data log. The notebook computer can be plugged directly into the meter, whilst still in the vehicle, and the data log transferred.

The meter’s data log always contains the latest fifty jobs this data will be transferred to the notebook, and all non-duplicate records will be appended to the database archive file. When the data is read, the appended jobs will be summarized and the Summary Report displayed, with sub totals according to payment method (card type etc.).

Records in the archive can be individually accessed, recalling any job in full detail as shown in the form above. Reports can also be displayed or printed for particular cab numbers, date periods or card types.

As CabTab is a Microsoft Access application the enormous power of the program is available to the user allowing sorting, filtering, customizing and even data sharing with other programs.

Other than the computer, no other equipment is required to read the meter’s data log. This provides a low cost solution for the multi-owner, or owner-drivers who wish to eliminate their hand-written log-book, or handle payment cards electronically.

CabTab Lite can also be used to read memory cards if greater capacity than fifty jobs is required.

CabTab Standard

This version is designed for “Back-Office” applications to upload data from memory cards. The data format is identical to “CabTab Lite”. Memory Cards are not limited to fifty jobs as is the case with the data-log, up to 256 transactions can be stored on each card. These can be restricted to non-cash jobs if required. They can also be used to carry a “Card Hot List” and Shift Period and Lease Period parameters.

Support is included for programming:

  • Card Issuer details. This consists of: surcharge, subsidy and discount formulae, and up to eight “ Merchant Numbers".

  • Calendar tables for automatically selecting penal rates for holidays and "unsocial hours".

  • Receipt printer text messages. This can include one-line adverts as well as company and cab details.

  • These files are transferred to the meters using programmer cards (special purpose IC.- Cards), or via the RF Network.

Provision has been made for processing card payment records into batch files for transferring to service providers. The file format required may vary and some customizing will be required.

CabTab Standard could well provide a full solution to handling payment cards, and the flexibility of Microsoft Access allows experienced users to customize the application to transfer data to office accounting packages.

Additional functions are built in to CabTab to assist record keeping of driver and vehicle management.

CabTab can also be adapted to support on-line meter transactions, where the meter has access to the RF. Network, and is sending live events back to the office computer system.
